Dante Exum and Mavericks have same interest in new deal
Dante Exum’s NBA resurgence with the Dallas Mavericks has sparked mutual interest in extending their partnership. After revitalizing his career in Europe with standout stints at FC Barcelona and Partizan Belgrade, Exum returned to the NBA in 2023, signing a two-year, $6.15 million deal with the Mavericks. His contract, however, includes a non-guaranteed salary for the 2024–25 season, set to become fully guaranteed if he remains on the roster beyond June 29, 2024.

Exum quickly established himself as a vital contributor in Dallas, valued for his defensive versatility, improved shooting, and ability to complement Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving. Averaging 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 18 games before a hand injury ended his season, Exum proved his worth as a reliable two-way guard.
Sources suggest both the Mavericks and Exum are keen to continue their association, though other NBA teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, have reportedly shown interest in the Australian guard.
The Mavericks’ decision will likely hinge on Exum’s recovery progress and their off-season strategy. For now, the signs point toward a promising reunion as both parties seem aligned in securing a new deal for the upcoming season.
