The Raiders’ new GM has a three-word response to Davante Adams’ trade rumours.
Las Vegas Raiders general manager Tom Telesco understands what it’s like to be on the opposing side of the field from Davante Adams, and it doesn’t seem like he wants to go through it again in the near future. Adams’ name has popped up in trade rumours since he appeared disgruntled with the team last winter. Telesco, who was just recruited as Raiders general manager after spending over a decade in the same job with division rival Los Angeles Chargers, was asked on Tuesday if he would accept trade offers for Adams. Telesco had a simple three-word response.

While that wasn’t exactly a “no,” the Raiders don’t consider themselves to be in complete rebuild mode. They finished 8-9 last season, nearly making the playoffs despite sacking head coach Josh McDaniels and benching Jimmy Garoppolo in favour of rookie Aidan O’Connell. Telesco has no motive to shop Adams. There has been speculation that a prominent former teammate is wooing Adams, but the Pro Bowl wideout was one of the stars who persuaded the Raiders to employ Antonio Pierce as their full-time head coach. Even if he hopes for a QB upgrade, Adams should be satisfied with how the Raiders’ offseason has progressed so far.
Adams had 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns last season. When he’s on his game, the 31-year-old is perhaps the best receiver in the NFL.
