During the peak of free agency, the Minnesota Vikings contemplated a proposition to acquire Kansas City Chiefs standout cornerback L’Jarius Sneed but withdrew their interest citing health concerns, as per a recent report.

Pete Sweeney, the editor-in-chief of Arrowhead Pride, disclosed on March 29 that the Vikings “explored the possibility of offering the Chiefs a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick in exchange for Sneed, but they ceased negotiations due to his medical background.”
Should the deal have materialized, the Vikings would have been obliged to secure Sneed to an extension, elevating him to the status of the highest-paid cornerback in the league. Notably, Sneed appeared on 20 out of 22 weekly injury reports throughout 2023.
Sneed underwent a successful physical with the Tennessee Titans, sealing his trade to Tennessee for the cost of a 2025 third-round pick and a Day 3 pick exchange this year. According to Sweeney, this was the sole offer on the table for Sneed.
In response to the report, Darren Wolfson, the Vikings beat reporter for KSTP, commented that although Sneed expressed a genuine interest in playing under Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, he never sensed a strong pursuit from the Vikings, likely due to reservations regarding Sneed’s injury history.
Feeling assured about Sneed’s medical background, the Titans inked him to a lucrative four-year, $76.4 million extension. Originally a fourth-round pick in 2020, Sneed has proven to be a significant contributor since his arrival in Kansas City.
For the last two seasons, Sneed has grappled with knee inflammation but has seldom sat out games. Across his career, he has commenced in 54 games, amassing 10 interceptions and deflecting 40 passes. Additionally, he has participated in every Chiefs playoff match over the past four seasons, including two Super Bowl triumphs.
In the previous season, Sneed limited opposing quarterbacks to a 66.0 passer rating, ranking sixth among NFL cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus.
