Amid a “huge blow” at Ibrox, Chris Jack provides an update on Ridvan Yilmaz’s injuries.
Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury will deal Rangers a “huge blow,” according to Chris Jack, who also acknowledged that fans are now anticipating the worst regarding the diagnosis, which the team has not yet disclosed.
Yilmaz sustained a knock while playing for Turkey on international duty; he was substituted from the field before he had even been on for 30 minutes.
Jack told us that we still don’t know the full degree of the injury because the team hasn’t released a statement, but he acknowledged that his absence would be a major setback and quite typical for Rangers.
“It sums up Rangers’ season,” Jack said in a statement on The Rangers Review [25 March]. Given his knowledge of Rangers, he’s most likely done for the season. Since the Rangers have not yet made a complete diagnosis, folks are justified to dread the worst. However, we do not yet know that.

“We’re not sure if he’s out for the duration of this weekend or more. Rangers would suffer a great deal since, over the past few months, he has shown incredible promise.
With the injury of Ridvan Yilmaz, Rangers suffer yet another setback.
Yilmaz is the latest player at Ibrox to join a lengthy list of players who have sustained long-term injuries this season amid a tumultuous year, including Abdallah Sima, Ross McCausland, Dujon Sterling, Ryan Jack, Todd Cantwell, Oscar Cortes, Kieran Dowell, and others.
The Turkish left-back, who had been linked to a move throughout January, had finally been playing well at Ibrox and demonstrating his abilities, so Yilmaz’s departure will be especially felt by Philippe Clement.
Yilmaz had taken the starting position due to Borna Barisic’s lack of playing time—the Croatian has struggled this season and appears likely to leave when his contract expires—but the Croatian may now be added back into the mix.
Other options include Ben Davies and Sterling playing out of position, as we have seen at times this season due to injuries, but Clement’s goals for his squad will ultimately determine that choice.
