Vols Are In The Top Group For Darrell Johnson, Says National Analyst.
Darrell Johnson, a linebacker from Dodge County High School, is among the most sought-after defenders in the 2025 cycle. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is the 28th-best prospect in the nation and has been impressing the Vols lately.
At this writing on November 28, 2023, Florida State insider Zach Blostein of Noles247 is reporting that the linebacker is now Crystal Balled to Florida State. It will be intriguing to observe the extent to which Tennessee can influence Johnson’s recruiting in the wake of linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary’s departure to take a position at Michigan. Spring ball is rapidly coming, and the Volunteers hope to have a significant influence on this recruitment.
Adam Gorney, national director of recruiting for Rivals, provided an update on Johnson’s recruitment status. A group is starting to emerge at the top, he indicated, but Johnson might have to reconsider his image in light of one particular initiative.
“Johnson has risen all the way up to No. 49 in the Rivals250 following an outstanding junior campaign on both sides of the ball and an outstanding performance at the Under Armour Atlanta camp. It might not be sufficient. The top four teams right now are Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, and UCF, but the Eastman, Georgia, Dodge County standout is scheduled to visit Georgia shortly, so if/when the Bulldogs make an offer, everything may change.” Adam Gorney of the rivals on Darrell Johnson
