INDIA PHILIPS, IN After finishing the 2023 season as one of the greatest in the NFL, Patrick Graham, the defensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders, gained interest from various teams as a potential head coach this offseason.
Hondo S. Carpenter Sr., our Las Vegas Raiders beat writer, wrote a lot about Graham and even revealed that he was a contender for the Seattle Seahawks before to Pete Carroll’s firing.
Although Graham is not a good coach, he is a great coach, and if he can find a suitable position, he may be a fantastic addition to the NFL.
As previously noted, one of the organizations that interviewed Graham was the Seattle Seahawks, who needed to replace longstanding head coach Pete Carroll.
At the NFL Combine, Carpenter spoke with Seahawks General Manager John Schneider about Graham.
“His energy, his intelligence, his enthusiasm, and his presence were impressive,” Schneider told the reporters during the 2024 NFL Combine. “Everyone in the building sensed his presence when he entered. We felt that it was crucial to bring the candidates in and give them an understanding of what we believed to be — and this is not an
conceited thing, but it’s more like the arsenal we have within the facility, which includes sports science, our analytics team, gear, player personnel, and obviously public relations. However, he showed up and spent a great deal of time with each of us, and their stay was quite enjoyable.
“He does, in fact, have a very bright future. I am excited to attempt to connect with him here and make up.”
Graham will remain with the Raiders for a third season in his current position as defensive coordinator. He also worked for the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants as a defensive coordinator.
Throughout his two seasons with the Giants, where he also held the position of assistant head coach, Graham came the closest to taking on a head coaching position.
Following Graham’s interview, Mike Macdonald, a former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, was hired by the Seattle Seahawks to be their head coach.
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The No. 13 overall pick is presently in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
