BREAKING: Warriors Launch Sneaker Repair Event to Inspire Youth on Sustainability
- The Golden State Warriors have launched a fresh, community-focused event at Thrive City, blending love for sneakers with lessons on sustainability. Dubbed *“Sustainable Soles,”* the event was held in partnership with Starry and aimed to teach the youth how to give old sneakers a new life while promoting eco-conscious living.

Former Warriors player Adonal Foyle headlined the event, engaging with attendees and stressing the growing need for sustainable choices in the world of sneakers. His presence reinforced the event’s mission to raise environmental awareness within the basketball and sneaker-loving communities.
Community involvement was central to the program. Oakland-based SoleSpace Lab, led by Jeff Perlstein, hosted hands-on workshops where participants learned how to clean, repair, and creatively customize used sneakers into personalized pieces. Paint Them Kicks, a local Bay Area initiative founded by Najeebah Spearman and her son Isaac, also ran sessions focused on artistic sneaker transformations and the value of upcycling.
