Former Tennessee Quarterback McKenzie Milton Joins UCF Coaching Staff as Quarterbacks Coach
McKenzie Milton, a former standout quarterback and recent offensive analyst for the Tennessee Volunteers, has been appointed as the quarterbacks coach for the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights. This move marks a significant step in Milton’s coaching career, bringing him back to the program where he achieved national recognition as a player.
Milton’s playing career began at UCF, where he led the Knights to an undefeated season in 2017 and was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Offensive Player of the Year in both 2017 and 2018. His dynamic playmaking and leadership were instrumental in UCF’s rise to national prominence during that period.

After suffering a severe knee injury in 2018, Milton transferred to Florida State University in 2021 to complete his collegiate playing career. Following his retirement from playing, he transitioned into coaching, joining the University of Tennessee as an offensive analyst from 2023 to 2024. In this role, he worked under head coach Josh Heupel, his former coach at UCF, contributing to the development of the Volunteers’ offensive strategies.
Milton’s return to UCF as the quarterbacks coach is a full-circle moment, allowing him to mentor the next generation of players at his alma mater. His firsthand experience as a high-performing quarterback and his recent coaching tenure at Tennessee equip him with a unique perspective to guide and develop UCF’s quarterbacks.
The appointment is expected to bolster UCF’s offensive coaching staff, bringing in a coach who not only understands the program’s culture and expectations but also has a proven track record of success both on the field and from the sidelines. Milton’s familiarity with the team’s dynamics and his commitment to excellence are anticipated to have a positive impact on the Knights’ performance in the upcoming seasons.
As UCF continues to compete at a high level, Milton’s addition to the coaching staff underscores the program’s dedication to leveraging experienced and passionate individuals who can contribute to its ongoing success. Fans and players alike are eager to see the influence Milton will have in his new role, guiding the quarterbacks and shaping the offensive strategies for the Knights.
