“Feyenoord Set to Sign ‘Next Messi’ as Carlos Tévez’s Praise Resurfaces”
Facundo Buonanotte’s potential move to Feyenoord is already creating a buzz, with old remarks from Carlos Tévez resurfacing today.
Voetbal Primeur covered the upcoming transfer, with editor-in-chief Ruben Winkels referencing Tévez’s past comments on the Brighton player.
Reports from late last month first suggested that Feyenoord were eyeing a loan deal for Buonanotte this summer, with Brighton seemingly open to the idea to give the youngster regular first-team action in the Netherlands.
Following that, a claim yesterday stated that Feyenoord and Brighton were finalizing the details of the deal, which had already been agreed upon by both clubs. It is widely expected that the 19-year-old will soon head to the Netherlands, having struggled to secure a permanent spot with the Seagulls since joining from Rosario Central in January of last year. Buonanotte has scored five goals and provided two assists in 50 appearances, but the arrival of Yankuba Minteh this summer has further limited his opportunities, opening the door for Feyenoord to acquire him.
Winkels’s recent comments reflect the excitement at Feyenoord about the prospect of signing him, as he reminded everyone of Buonanotte’s potential.
“He’s a very good player,” Winkels said.
“Carlos Tévez was already enthusiastic about him when he broke through at Rosario Central. The former striker said: ‘The way he runs and accelerates reminds me of Messi. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone who brings me so much joy to watch.’”
