The Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine likely part ways this summer.
The Chicago Bulls‘ desire to trade All-Star guard Zach LaVine this season was arguably the NBA’s worst-kept secret. However, the team’s front management held talks with the Detroit Pistons but were ultimately unable to locate a viable trade partner. LaVine’s foot injury and subsequent surgery rendered it impossible to do anything this season. With LaVine apparently ahead of schedule in his recovery and rehabilitation, a report argues the Bulls must press on and find a method to sell him, even if it means receiving pennies on the dollar.
Find some draft picks for LaVine. Chicago had difficulties dealing LaVine this season for a variety of reasons, the most significant of which was his high contract. In addition to his recent injury history, finding a willing trade partner has become increasingly difficult. However, with the emergence of Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu in LaVine’s absence, the Bulls may be ready to cut their losses and move on from the high-priced guard.

Greg Swartz put it this way: “Chicago isn’t going to get a massive haul, especially with LaVine playing just 25 games this season and with three years and $138 million remaining on his contract.” “The best the Bulls can hope for is a pair of first-round picks from some contender and some salary relief as well.”
The Bulls have prospered without LaVine. LaVine is an excellent wing player who can easily score 30 points. His silky-looking jumper and nuclear athleticism allow him to consistently launch huge dunks near the rim, making him a sight to behold when in peak condition.
But that has been a concern for LaVine and the Bulls. This season, the former UCLA star appeared in only 25 games. When he was out at the end of November, Chicago had a terrible 5-14 record. However, when he returned at the start of 2024, the Bulls had gained significant ground. They finished 15-5 in December, courtesy to Coby White’s nightly scoring sprees.
That’s not to imply LaVine isn’t vital to the Bulls. On the contrary, he has demonstrated signs of being a true star in this league. Despite his iso-heavy style of play and inconsistent availability, the squad has demonstrated that it can prosper without him.
