Chicago Bears accept a deal of $35.9 million contract to sign safety Jonathan Owens.
Per Aaron Wilson, the Chicago Bears are set to sign ex-Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens to a two-year contract valued at $4.5 million.

Owens, who will celebrate his 29th birthday in July, brings a degree of familiarity with defensive schemes, having spent the initial four seasons of his career with the Houston Texans. Under Lovie Smith’s coaching, he started 19 games in both 2021 and 2022. During his tenure with the Green Bay Packers last year, he recorded 84 tackles while starting 11 games on defense, in addition to contributing 233 snaps on special teams. Owens initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Missouri Western, signing with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 before establishing himself in Houston.
Owens, standing at 5’11” and weighing 210 pounds, is expected to provide depth behind the recently acquired Kevin Byard and the returning Jaquan Brisker.
On a more personal note, Owens is married to one of America’s most celebrated athletes, gymnast Simone Biles.
