Khaman Maluach, an internationally renowned star, has pledged to play for Duke
Khaman Maluach, an international standout, has decided to join the Duke Blue Devils, enhancing their status as the top-ranked class of 2024.

Khaman Maluach, the premier international prospect of the 2024 class, has chosen to play for the Duke Blue Devils. Standing at 7 feet 2 inches tall, Maluach, originally from South Sudan, attended the NBA Africa Academy during his high school years. His talents attracted interest from top-tier institutions such as Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA, as well as the G League Ignite.
Maluach isn’t just among the top players internationally; when compared to those within the United States, he stands among the elite of the 2024 class.
Now that Maluach has committed to a college, he will be ranked by 247Sports and will achieve five-star status.
Maluach’s decision is a significant advancement for Jon Scheyer’s strategy for the 2024-25 season, especially with Kyle Filipowski likely leaving after this season.
Adding Maluach to Duke’s frontcourt will provide tremendous size, athleticism, length, and skill. He is a versatile big man who can defend effectively, protect the rim, and contribute both inside and outside on offense, while also bringing energy and agility to the team.
He forms an outstanding combination with Duke’s standout recruit Cooper Flagg, and together, they will create a highly effective duo on both offense and defense.
Maluach first gained attention at the NBA Africa Academy during his freshman year, where Jon Scheyer, then a Duke assistant coach, identified his talent and noticed his potential from a young age.
Since that initial assessment, Duke has closely monitored Maluach’s progress and actively pursued him in the past year. The Blue Devils took an early lead in his recruitment and maintained their position throughout.
Maluach is a recruit who will make an immediate impact, and he is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
- Maluach is becoming part of the top-ranked 2024 class, which is already packed with talent, including Flagg, Isaiah Evans, Kon Knueppel, Patrick Ngongba II, and Darren Harris.
