The 49ers were not spared on a day when the NFL fined numerous clubs and head coaches in various amounts. The 49ers were one of three teams fined by the NFL on Thursday for violating organized team activities (OTA), with a $100,000 punishment imposed on them. Moreover, head coach Kyle Shanahan received a $50,000 punishment.

“The health and safety of our players is our highest priority, and we take following league rules very seriously,” the 49ers stated in an email acknowledging the penalties to The Chronicle. To maintain compliance, we will keep collaborating with the NFL and the NFLPA.
According to ESPN, the Jacksonville Jaguars ($200,000) and head coach Urban Meyer ($100,000) were among the other teams and coaches fined for OTA offenses. The Dallas Cowboys ($100,000) and head coach Mike McCarthy ($50,000) were also reprimanded.
The 49ers have been hit with other penalties from the league this offseason. The team was also hit with a suspension that erased the last week of their rookie development program in June following a breach of the league’s offseason work guidelines. In that particular instance, cornerback Deommodore Lenoir released a video on the first day of rookie minicamp showing him covering before intercepting a pass in a one-on-one drill. The 49ers were penalized for Lenoir’s aggressiveness, which resulted in minimal contact.
