INJURY UPDATE: Scottie Barnes, an ex-star at FSU, is out for the season.
According to the Toronto Raptors, former Florida State standout Scottie Barnes will be out indefinitely due to a left hand fracture. He was declared out of the game after suffering an injury with 1:56 left in the first half. When Barnes departed the game, the Raptors were leading the Golden State Warriors 57-55. However, the Raptors would lose the remainder of the game, outscoring them 65-48.
The bone that connects to the middle finger is called the third metacarpal. Given that it’s not his shooting hand, Barnes might return in time to help the Raptors contend if they are still in the running. With a 22-38 record as of Friday night, the Raptors are 3.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the final Play-In position in the Eastern Conference.

A few weeks prior, Scottie Barnes had made his NBA All-Star debut and had performed admirably. He recorded 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 16 minutes against the Warriors. The Raptors are hopeful that this won’t hinder his progress as a player because this has undoubtedly been the best season of his short career.
A video of the injury’s occurrence is shown below. Although it’s difficult to say for sure, it appears that Barnes was unintentionally booted by teammate Immanuel Quickley. Barnes had a gut feeling that something had happened, and his departure from the floor indicated that it was a major incident.
